Ian Dickinson Herec

Ian Dickinson was born in Plymouth, southwest England, and spent his formative years in St. Germans, a quaint village in southeast Cornwall. After moving to London in 1983, his career took flight in 1985 when he co-founded Anxious Music and Anxious Records alongside Dave Stewart of Eurythmics. After resigning from both Anxious companies in 1988, Ian continued collaborating with Eurythmics during their 1989/90 world tour. Following this, he pursued his passion for drama and English literature at The Working Men's College in London while freelancing in the music industry. In 1995, Ian relocated to Berlin, where he currently divides his time between his homes in the German capital and his hometown of Plymouth. Since 2017, he has held dual British-German citizenship.
Ian has appeared on stages across Berlin, Frankfurt am Main, Munich, London, Plymouth and Cape Town, performing and directing in both German and English across numerous productions, including roles by Beckett, Pinter, Wilde, Ibsen, and Shakespeare. He was a guest actor at Berlin's Maxim Gorki Theater (1998-1999) and the Deutsches Theater (2003-2008). Ian's cinematic journey includes roles in prominent films such as The Keeper - aka. Trautmann (Marcus H. Rosenmüller, 2018), Passion (Brian De Palma, 2012), The Physician (Philipp Stölzl, 2012), Person To Person (Wim Wenders, 2007), Fay Grim (Hal Hartley, 2006), V For Vendetta (James McTeigue, 2005), and Grimme prize winner Paul Is Dead (Hendrik Handloegten, 1998). His television credits span various productions including the cult German daily drama Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten (Clemens Löhr, 2024), Hotel Europa - Das Weiße Haus am Rhein (Thorsten Schmidt, 2021), Die dunkle Seite des Mondes (Stephan Rick, 2015), Tatort: Der tote Chinese (Hendrik Handloegten, 2008), Die Pfefferkörner (Stefan Mohrbutter, 2002), and Der Verleger (Bernd Böhlich, 2001).
Beyond acting, Ian has cultivated a distinguished career in voice-over spanning more than two decades. He is renowned for his work in advertising, corporate films, narration, and character voice acting for drama and animation. His voice has been featured in international campaigns for brands such as Lufthansa, Volkswagen, Goodyear, Schwarzkopf, Panasonic, and BMW, as well as in audio guides for prestigious museums like Berlin's Bode Museum, Neue Nationalgalerie, the Berlin Holocaust Memorial, Munich’s Pinakothek, and the Hamburger Kunsthalle.
Ian Dickinson wurde in Plymouth im Südwesten Englands geboren und verbrachte seine prägenden Jahre in St. Germans, einem malerischen Dorf im Südosten von Cornwall. Nach seinem Umzug nach London im Jahr 1983 nahm seine Karriere 1985 Fahrt auf, als er zusammen mit Dave Stewart von Eurythmics Anxious Music und Anxious Records gründete. Er war Gastschauspieler am Berliner Maxim Gorki Theater (1998-1999) und am Deutschen Theater (2003-2008). Ians filmische Laufbahn umfasst Rollen in prominenten Filmen wie The Keeper - a.k.a. Trautmann (Marcus H. Rosenmüller, 2018), Passion (Brian De Palma, 2012), Der Medicus (Philipp Stölzl, 2012), Person To Person (Wim Wenders, 2007), Fay Grim (Hal Hartley, 2006), V wie Vendetta (James McTeigue, 2005) und dem Grimme-Preisträger Paul Is Dead (Hendrik Handloegten, 1998). Er ist bekannt für seine Arbeit in der Werbung, in Unternehmensfilmen, als Erzähler und als Synchronsprecher für Dramen und Animationen.
